Subject to copyright The figurines are scale models made from drawings and photos; moulds are not used. Sizes vary from 5 cm to 40 cm. Clays, slips and surface pigments are as close as possible in colour and texture to those of the originals; research into modelling techniques employed by the ancient Maya artists has resulted in authentic forms and surface quality.

Shamanic traditions around the world use the archetype of the dark place, or cave, that becomes the place of illumination and re-birth. In the Maya world, the cave leads to the Underworld. The crocodile /serpent figurines, with the large open mouths containing human heads, symbolize the process of transformation. The jaguar and serpent were the spirit guides for the ancient Maya, and in these symbols “the world itself is speaking”. [CG Jung].
